Safe Kids E-mail Gets Parent Approval

(ARA) - Four out of every five children receive inappropriate spam e-mail touting get-rich-quick schemes, loan programs, and pornographic materials, according to a study released by Internet security provider Symantec Corporation. Parents want their children to experience the information and communication channels the Internet provides, but want to make sure they are protected from many of the hazards that are present.

If your child has been asking you for an e-mail account, don't look to the free accounts that you might have for yourself. Even with parental controls and spam filters, it's still not the most appropriate option because of inappropriate advertising. Additional costs are becoming the norm for filters that often don't work. Look for something designed specifically with parents and kids in mind.

ZillaDog.com is a Web site that provides easy and affordable e-mail accounts designed specifically for kids with the protection and controls parents want. Focused toward kids ages 7 to 13, ZillaDog is truly spam-free. Here's why you should consider it for your child:

Buddy List
Parents have the ability to control who is on their child's buddy list. This list regulates who your child can send e-mail to and receive them from. Add yourself, grandma and grandpa, schoolmates and even siblings to the list. You don't have to worry about strangers or inappropriate spam showing up in their inbox because you know who the e-mail is coming from. Parents control who is added to the list through a password protected function. The child simply asks for the addition and parents manage the process.

Filters
Just because parents control the buddy list, it doesn't mean they can control what their child communicates, right? At ZillaDog parents can rest easy because filters have been built that block out profanity and personal information from coming in or going out of your child's e-mail account. If either is in an e-mail, it will be sent, but those areas will be blank and cannot be viewed. This protects your children from inappropriate content as well as accidentally giving out personal information.

Design
ZillaDog is designed specifically to be fun and easy for kids while providing a safe Internet environment. An easy interface makes sending and receiving e-mail a breeze and a great learning experience. Children can set up their own themed setting or "skins" with fun colors and designs. New themes are regularly released. Children can also choose a ZillaDog Microsoft Agent, a small character that has the ability to read e-mail out loud. Additionally, on the Fun and Games tab, children are connected to some of their favorite Internet spots including Webkinz, Club Penguin, Neopets, PBS Kids and Disney. There are also age appropriate movie trailers to view and music to listen to.
