Kingston's ValueRAM KVR400/1GR is a 128M x 64-bit (1GB) DDR400 CL3 SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) memory module. The components on the module include sixteen 64M x 8-bit (16M x 8-bit x 4 Bank) DDR333 SDRAM in TSOP packages. This 184-pin DIMM uses gold contact fingers and requires +2.6V. The product is shipped in retail packaging and includes installation instructions.

« Sizzle...kaboom... Be afraid... Be very afraid... »

After matching the specs, I bought this to upgrade my aging Dell computer. I installed it and the next thing came this burning smell from inside my computer. I immediately turned it off and removed the melting RAM, but it was too late. My old computer is no more. I felt like a bit of a dufus thinking I must have made a monumental mistake somewhere along the line. (Although I was certain to match the specs and install it correctly, snapping it in to place.) I called Kingston and they said they preferred another one of their more expensive memory sticks, and as such this part is not guaranteed. (I said, funny how there is no mention of that on Amazon or in retail stores or on the package for that matter.) But the Kingston rep finally admitted that what happened should not have happened. But too bad for me... Basically, you're out of luck sucker. Fortunately, I had no problem returning the defective part to Amazon - they even picked up the shipping. So I got my thirty some odd dollars back, and am only out the price of a new computer...

installed the memory and it works BAD... a blue screen appears everytime...i have a dell dimension b110. WHy is it NOT working is the memory faulty???

« Meets or exceeds my expectations »

I've had this stick of memory for a couple of months now and it meets or exceeds my expectations and I would buy it again based on my current experience with the product and the service I've had with amazon.com for the number of years I've made purchases from them. I don't recall being disappointed at the moment. I can easily recommend it to a friend and am surprised it is not more popular because it seems like a good value. I would rate it higher but I don't feel it would be proper to give it a higher rating until I've used it for most of its expected lifetime service.
