Allowed me to take 486 computer running XP and upgrade it to run Vista. The old computer was bogged down from having AOL on it for years (and all the crap that AOL burdens a computer with) and was so slow that it almost couldn't be used. I finally moved my wife (the AOL user) onto her own laptop and I was able to wipe the hard drive. I already have Office 2007 for Vista so I checked and this computer would run Vista Basic. These memory chips gave me the extra memory to provide functionality for all of the background tasks that run in Vista. In turn it allows my kids to have an additional computer to use for homework.

I was hesitant to upgrade the memory of my pc in the beginning. I thought it is going to be very hard and complicated. But [...] has a good site with instruction on how to install it, very easy to follow. I am so glad I bought it, now I'm enjoying my pc cause it is so much faster as promise by crucial. I am no computer geek but this one is easy for me to do.

a year later and it has been working just great! you hear about installing memory in pairs? if it is recommended for your computer, then be sure that you do install in pairs in order to take advantage of the dual channel capability. it certainly speeds things up. remember, your memory will only run as fast as your slowest stick of memory.

« Works great »

I bought this ram for my aging HP and it works great. Went from 512mb to 2gb and now everything is fast and smooth on my Linux machine (Ubuntu 9.10). 3D effects are close to flawless now, no more glitchy movements. Games are smoother too. XP runs better now as well. Boots up and shuts down faster too. No problems with my computer recognizing the memory. Over all I am very pleased.
