I bought this power cable in September and by February I needed a new one because it had already broken. I would be skeptical of the reviews claiming it is fine because it lasted a few weeks, seeing as I expect a power cord to work for a year minimum and it really should work for the life of the computer. 5 months is not a good life span for a power cord in my book.

« I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND! »

Two laptops in perfect working order (HP and Compaq) were destroyed within seconds of plugging in this Adapter. One laptop actually shut off right before my eyes as I plugged it in and then I checked on the other laptop that had been connected to the Adapter and it was nonfunctional as well. Later that evening, one laptop battery (unattached from any power source) exploded and set my kitchen counter on fire. I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

« Does the job it's made for at a great price »

Not sure what people are complaining about, but this little sucker does exactly what it was built to do - charge my laptop. For the price, it does everything you could ever hope it could do and while you do have to be a bit more careful with it than the original HP adapter (the build is slightly weaker), as long as you're not whacking it all over the place or using it as a lasso, you shouldn't have any issue with it.

Love it, and would buy it again if I needed one.
