« Same or worse speed with Comcast »
I bought this modem to save the $5 monthly modem rental fee and after reading the comments here I expected a speed increase. I'm getting the same or worse download speeds and Comcast is using DOCSIS 3.0 in my area. Using [...]and choosing my local server (Philadelphia) I get about 10Mbps down and 5Mbps up. With the rented modem I was getting 20Mbps down and about 3-4Mbps up. When I choose a server in New Jersey or New York I get the same speed I was getting with the rented modem. I don't know what that means but I'm definitely not getting faster download speeds. It took me a minute to connect it but it took Comcast about 30 minutes on the phone to add it to my account and get it working. I asked to make sure DOCSIS 3.0 is being used in my area and it is but was told I wouldn't see any faster speed unless I upgrade to a faster more expensive tier of service. I'll be keeping the modem because I doubt I'll notice any speed difference in regular use. Downloading from megaupload I'm getting the same speed as the rented modem which is on average between 1-3Mbps. I give Amazon and the modem 5 stars. I give Comcast ZERO stars.

    « Great for Comcast »
Hooked up easily. There is CD that comes with it but it only contains some documents, no installation software. The modem worked fine for about a week and then had to be exchanged because it would no longer connect to Comcast. Comcast come out and installed a new line but the modem still wouldn't connect. Amazon sent out a new one and the new one is working fine. This time I called Comcast as soon as I hooked up the modem and we haven't had any problems.
